From the Ceilidh-house

Folk-tales and humorous anecdotes in Gaelic can be found in this section, which we have entitled ‘From the Ceilidh-house’. Of course, much of the content of the previous section would have been equally suitable for narration in the ceilidh-house: see, for example, the story of Kirsty Macaskill and Alastair 'Louis' within that section for Angus's own comments. However, our selection highlights the role of Gaelic as the medium of interaction in the ceilidh-house. Nonetheless, we have also included a few humorous snippets in English, one of which (‘An Unusual Catch’) provides some general context for this section.
